Mum and Dad had many businesses when we grew up – if you remember back to Pokeno when there was the Trailbreak Food Stop – with the big sign that said’ FOOD FOOD STOP STOP’, it was very successful when they owned it, with Trucks parked up and down both sides of the road most of the time, while the drivers were in the restaurant.

Steven and I both worked on Milk Runs, Mum had the run in Tuakau and Pokeno and Dad had a run Pukekohe.

When I was around 18, they bought the BP in Tuakau.  This is where I started bookkeeping at 21 when Mum left the business.  At various stages there were other businesses, including, Stitch n Sew and Cactus Clothing in Tuakau.

I went on to work at Repco in Onehunga doing stock control, merchandising and I also worked on the counter selling trade and retail.   I was one of the founding staff at Repco in Manurewa.  Next was Davie Motors in Otahuhu as Parts Admin, then Davie Motors in Manukau.  At Manukau I also had the role of The Holden Difference Standards Coordinator, which was a standards system, with an emphasis on customers and building the staff team.  I worked closely with all departments and managers in the dealership; I also handled most of the IT and project needs.  www.davie.co.nz

For a few years, I was bookkeeping for my husband who had an engineering contracting business.

I love cars, from fours to V8s, and most things in between.  My husband mostly is drawn to old muscle cars.  There have been a few V8′s around the place over the years.  The race car is parked up with work being done on it – 26a, a saloon car, which he normally races at Waikaraka Park.  Naturally, Katalyst sponsors the team uniforms, with our name on the shirts and car.  http://www.waikarakafamilyspeedway.co.nz.  Unfortunately, the sponsorship deal hasn’t been great this year with a few too many crashes…

Also, I love photography, we currently work for five very different photography based businesses, I have also till recent’y been the treasurer for the Manukau Photographic Society.  http://manukauphotographicsociety.org.nz/photoclub/.

My favourite camera at the moment is my 5D I bought from Troy Goodall.  I have mostly had my tilt shift lens on it, so have been playing with that a fair bit, with mixed results…

Awhitu still the retro camera.
